The knob that locks the door is in the same spot. The interior release **MAY** be in a different position.
99's had (at least) three types of interior latches on the 2- and 3-door cars.
First is the chromed lever **under** the arm rest. The lever is about centered fore and aft on the door. This comes with the older style door cards which are really cards with some upholstery added to the "pretty" side. The rubber and steel armrest is a separate part.
Next is on the early cars with the urethane foam door cards. The release is a plastic lever that you press down, that is mounted on the forward edge of the door panel. There is a pull handle on the door, above the molded-in armrest, approximately centered on the door.
The third style, also for the urethane foam door panels, and the style used on all Classic 900s, puts the door release at the forward edge of the door pull
