Gary,

Thanks for your helpful reply! I have uploaded three photos of the car into the member photo gallery (under Akkadian09), which I believe any member can access.

I am in San Clemente, CA, and I have visited Bud Clark at J&B Imports in Orange. He suggested I put the car up for sale on TSN. I do not know if you are planning to attend the Owner Convention in August (I cannot go), but maybe someone there might be interested in the car. I am trying to think of any way I can keep it, but my wife and I are in the process of buying our first house in Southern California. Having moved out here from Kansas in 2009, you can imagine the sticker stock we are experiencing here with the housing prices compared to the rural Midwest. So the bottom line is that I cannot afford to keep the Saab up any longer.

I will, however, try to unstick the vacuum advance myself. The smog test failed on the nitrous oxides (way over the limit), but the other exhaust gases (Hydrocarbons, CO, and CO2) were within spec. The smog test tech told me the EGR valve might be stuck also, so the car has the EGR and AIR systems, and not a catalytic converter.

The car would obviously be best off with another Saab enthusiast living in a state with no emissions testing. I certainly would not like to see it scrapped, especially since it looks and runs so relatively good.

Thanks also for the lead on the parts availability – I will take a look at that.

I appreciate all the helpful replies I have seen from you on the Bulletin Boards in recent years!

Best regards,
Steve Johnson
