Kevin, The ATE brakes have been retained. Jason stated, on this BB, that his gearbox rebuilder informed him that he used the externals from the '74, including the shafts, and used the internals from the chain drive box. I had no luck contacting the rebuilder of my gearbox, but he did tell me at one time that the gearbox ratio is .78, (9:35) and that the final drive ratio is 3.89:1. The numbers on my gearbox (G34401 50684) probably do not indicate whether or not the original gearcase has been retained due to the fact that the primary gear case (which has the serial numbers stamped on it) can be unbolted from the main housing case and possibly replaced. It appears as if there are several ways to incorporate the chain drive update on the '71-'74 model year. The lesson here is that all things being mechanical, especially thirty-two year old SAAB 99's that have been swapped, updated, revised, and altered can sometimes be a "bag of worms."
