Doug, that is a nice 99 story. Vintage Saab folks are generally considered a bit out of the norm by car enthusiasts. Within the Saab circles, I sometimes feel we 99'ers are. It has been the forgotten model. Things seem to be changing for the better. I too, have several local aquaintences who are really into 99's. It is funny how you end up finding them. I have had and sold through the years many antique autos. There have been several I've parted with that my freinds just simply can't believe I let go. For some reason I have the hardest time parting with these 99's. I've had many offers through the years, as well as contimplated selling them many times including now. It is simply very hard to find any antique car that runs and drives like a modern automobile. For the most part as I drive these cars, I simply forget their age and feel like I'm driving my '93 900. The main differences being mostly the 99's perform better. I suspect the 99 is about to finally get it's due in the vintage car scene. There's a lot more 99'ers out there than people realize. I've recieved most of my offers from non-Saabers through the years. I've currently got a gentleman inquiring about my SSE that has never owned a Saab. These are also good signs as to the 99 getting it's long overdue respect. 20-30 car garage? I thought my recent 4 car garage upgrade was nice! That's the sort of place you dream (fantisize) about.
