Well first of all I would highly recommend getting a shop manual of some kind. The Haynes is pretty good and can be found on ebay for $5 or so (US).
I don't have access to my manual right now, but if memory serves, make sure timing is set to 20d BTDC at 2000rpm, using a good timing light.
I think idle speed is different for manual and auto trans, but should be around 850-900rpm. I don't know how on earth the car could continue running at 350 rpm. Are you sure that is right? Idle speed is NOT set at the adjusting screw on the throttle valve. Set that screw so it holds the valve plate open about .003-.005" [.01mm], measured inside the throttle body. Then set the idle screw (on top of the throttle body) to final adjust. Mixture adjustment is done thru a hole in the aluminum housing beside the fuel distributor, with an allen wrench (3mm?).
If you are having trouble controlling idle speed, check for air leaks throughout the intake system and vacuum hoses.
All this is from memory and may not be 100% correct. Definitely get yourself a manual. It will pay for itself the first time you use it. Hope this helps.
