0.014" or 0.35mm and dwell is 50 plus or minus 2 degrees.
I've always set the points with a dwell meter. They aren't the easiest to set, so skipping the gap and moving directly to dwell gets them right the first time. In my experience, getting them close, then trying to "fine tune" by adjusting dwell rarely ever works out. You think you move them just a hair, but when cranking and setting dwell, it could throw them off the meter. It's very frustrating sometimes! They aren't uni-set points which allows you to set the correct angle while the car is running.
Did you by chance ohm out the coils? You should have between 1.7-2.1 ohms between terminals 1 and 15 of the coil.
