The wrong side of the voodoo doll! :) I do understand where you guys are coming from but, Dan if you remember I live up here in Idaho not many saabites up here wanting to take the 99 challenge on, Yes thanks to you I know that there are a few. I like driving the 99 better than the 900 to be honest but they just have no room for us big guys, the seats need moved back about 2 inches. Yea i still know where a few more 900's are sitting but then I have another 900, I have 4 of those all ready and have parted one out, And would hate to do the same to this '74 if I don't have to but it has already begone because this poor car has so many parts that need changed before it would be road worthy it isn't even funny not to mention it would kill my pocket. I would be pretty much rebuilding the whole car from other cars, cause I don't have the parts laying around, 900 parts are a different story I can find them fairly easy and fairly cheap, I haven't even seen another 99 in my area!
My intentions are not to get everyone upset over a possible convertion I was looking for some possible insight on this project if, I even do it depending on if someone can't stand to see this 99 head in this path and restores it. But I thought that it would be great if I could do this and get a reliable hyway car out of it, 5sp, better brakes, power steering, a/c(possibly I don't think that there is enough room),interior that fits someone that is over 6 foot, power widows-locks,ect. And I already know what someone is going to say.... "get a new car". Well if every one had done that and not loved the "old" steel then this BB wouldn't even exist! What I'm saying is that I have always liked the old steel, it doesn't pretty much even matter what make, the old steel is what we were and these newer cars are nothing compared to the old ones. Just like if I found a mid 30's chevy pickup I would not hot rod it with a big motor! How can you afford to drive the thing? Yea, to would be redone in a rat rod style BUT it would get a newer 4cyl under the hood, the power wouldn't be there but the gas mileage would.
Yes I do have a newer saab in the driveway but it has a bad motor, when the older cars that have more miles on them are still being drove.
But anyway I got off track.:)And I do respect everyone opinion! And I do apreciate the feedback.
