Just out of curiosity, what was the original material?
I think you're on the right track. Once you have a model down for both the guides and have perfected an attachment method, either riviting or adhesive, you could probably turn around several of those in a day. If you were inclined to reline timing chain guides all day, that is!
To qualify your design maybe set up an engine on a test stand with your new guides and cycle it for a week/month/whatever and note how the guides stand up to use. This sounds fun, maybe I'll get an engine, and if one other guy gets an engine we could do a real DOE!
