Some of you may call out the posse but hear me out: I opted to go with a 16 valve non-turbo motor in this '72 99E I had here at my place. The owner threw a rod in the 1.85L engine and though I had a few good B-motors around (with better transmissions as well) I couldn't find everything I needed for the D-jet on the B motor any where close. Many offered parts but I just don't have the means or the time to hunt everything down....anyway, as many of you know, puting the 16 valve in a '72 is nothing like puting one in a '76. I've fabricated all the mounts, and have everything in...except the oil pressure sender. Short of moving the brake booster up an inch (more firewall butchery) it just won't fit in its usual place. With many of you on this BB familiar with both 99s and 900s, is there anywhere else on the 16 valve engine where on could mount the sender and still get accurate pressure readings? the only POSSIBILITY I can think of is the oil line for the turbo, which is capped on a non-turbo, of course. What do you think? And WHY OH WHY did they have that heater core inlet right where the water pump on the 16v needs to go....
