I dont know about the b-motor being faster than the 16, but the 16 valve can tuned way further than a b... 99s are also lighter than a 900, so the extra power is necessary to get the same feel. As to the lag, b-turbos are VERY laggy- When saab made this car, there werent any companies making turbos for cars, so the one in there is just way too big. If you swap in a newer turbo, that problem can be relieved a bit. Due to a fairly dead cam grind and different timing the 99t's are a bit more of a dog on the line than a n/a 99. I have a early 99 cam in my 99t, and a Jacobs coil booster, so it moves pretty good off the line. The b-motor feels very fast, because when the boost finally kicks in at 3500-4000 it pulls really hard all the way to redline. If you look at the factory torque curves, it raises sharply at boost, and drops a bit at redline, which makes a easily deliniated shift point. It just feels right. I just finished my own 99t thursday- The whole deal. It is running like a dream. Keep us posted on how everything goes.
