also, some 99's manufactured in belgium between approx 1976 and 1978 had factory paint that was subject to cracking, I fought hard for saab to do something about this, maybe back in 1985, they finally offered some $$ to some owners, but excluded me because of something with how many years the original owner had the car before we bought it...
anyway, iif your car is belian, I'd be surprised it has lasted this long, as they were extremely rust-prone...but the paint had been known to crack a lot...to do it right, all the paint must come off the car...and you are in for a lot of work.
