Actually, Alex:
He won't be fine with the original shifter column. It will work in the sense that all gears will still be there, but 1-2 will end up towards the dashboard, and 3-4 towards the steering wheel. Mirror flipped!
Furthermore, I have owned both 3-speed and 4-speed 2-strokers, and I for one MUCH prefer the 3-speed box. 4th gear isn't all that much higher, and the extra in-between gear isn't really needed, the 3 speeds seem to be in harmony with the 2-stroke engine while the 4-speed just feels like it really belongs in another car.
