Coil/Pertronix wiring question Posted by patquin [Email] (#9) [Profile/Gallery] (more from patquin) on Sun, 18 Jan 2004 08:24:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently purchased a Bosch blue coil and pertronix to replace an original coil/points set up. The change over would be pretty simple if not for the fact that the car has been retrofitted with a vw aftermarket seedee electronic "booster" (which is dying). The current wiring follows the seedee schematic (http://vwjudsonregister.tripod.com/see-dee_instructions.htm). Anyone seen one of these setups before?
There are two wires from the wire harness, and two wires from the Pertronix. Do I just rip out the wiring from the seedee, connect the Pertronix red to +15, Pertronix black to -1, then connect each harness wire to the coil? If so, how can I be certain which harness wire goes to each terminal on the coil? I'm confused because it looks to me by hooking up the harness wires to the coil terminals that I'm shorting the Pertronix by direct-connecting the coil to "chassis-hot" and "chassis-ground".
This is probably an easy answer, it's just that I have a poor copy of the Sonett schematic-the photocopy is too light and doesn't show the wiring polarity at the coil.
