Spiv--thanks. I just printed out your directions, and put them together with the sections in Haynes and Chilton. I remember doing valve adjustments on small engines, and your "drag fit" is exactly how I remember doing it. I just wish the manuals were written more in your style than in their very dry ho hum manner. There are a few famous VW books that show how to do it your way, but for Saab these read like 7th grade history books.
I'm doing this because I'm going to install a 2-barrel Weber soon, and realized that with the valve covers off and new gaskets coming along, it would be a great time to first get the valves perfect.
