Brian,
What were you experiencing before you approached the rebuild?
What did you replace during the rebuild?
Did you take the tranny completely apart meaning all the guts were out?
Lastly, did you reopen the box to find out what went wrong?
When taking on a new, "complicated" task; organisation, and records are important. In this day of video camera/ digital camera, it is much easier than ever.
As for the "experts", what is the failure rate of their rebuilt boxes? Can they not make a mistake or miscaculate?
In one of someone's post, I recall that he mentioned that he had a box rebuilt, yet had not installed it. I recalled that he typed that he had full confidence in the vendor. Who is to surely say that one of the vendor's rebuilt boxes will last long. or will not whine?
Erikkson industries(based in CT) which is a professional rebuilder. of which the Saab dealers used. This is where the Saab dealers would send their defective transmissions or Turbos.
I recall a Saab mechanic installing a Errikkson rebuilt, automatic C900 tranny to find out it was not good. The tranny appearance looked brand new. Anyone can make an error; thus why companies offer a guarantee. I also knew of a "Saab head mechanic who also rebuilt the 5 speeds, and occasionally, some of his transmissions would not stand the longevity test.
He took the the actual Saab courses with John Moss.
Thanks for any input. I am determined to rebuild this box. I am simply attempting to shorten the learning curve.
As for Kansas, it may have read harsh, yet I do not understand why he did not offer his experience..or at least tell us what he "precisely" experienced and did while doing the rebuild.
