Well John, we are all Saabnuts; no grudge.
Jack Lawrence is an extremely helpful and kind guy. I wish that MSS could make a quieter non-race themed exhaust system. A couple of years ago, I brought the 96 to a custom exhaust place, and they used the MSS y pipe as a pattern to form a raw pipes, and added two mufflers. The fit was excellent,(hung very close to the body, none of the low hang like MSS)
After I drove the car away, it still was noisy..( again not a nice noisy, like a 900T note or even a Mustang 5.0. note) but a type of noisy that indicates that the exhaust needs replacing. I drove back and the guy threw on a third muffler; and still crappy sounding! Everytime I would shut the car off..popping, snapping sounds emitted from the exhaust( contracting) I drove the car like that for about a month before one of the cheap mufflers burst! I can be a bit passionate when it comes to exhausts!
I also think the shape of the car matters as well. Unlike a Sonett, the 96 in certain colors appears elegant when professionally restored, hence a "fitting" exhaust compliments the shape in my humble opinion.
Take care Jon
