Jimmy,
I drove a 63 stroker, with 4-speed, from Kentucky to San Francisco, then to San Diego, then back to northern CA, and back to KY. I did the outbound trip in 2-1/2 days in late December and drove snow across Wyoming. All together I guess it was over 5000 miles and I did most of it at about 70 mph. It was the first car I ever drove to the west coast and didn't get my hands dirty. But, I have to admit I was about 25 years old at the time, so it seemed like a perfectly normal thing to do.
If you have the time, and don't want to rev the engine so fast, take the 2-lane roads and enjoy yourself.
Charley
