Thoughts on low/no ethanol unleaded in a V4 Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Tue, 9 Apr 2013 08:34:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 1971 Sonett III, but this question should apply to any Saab with a V4 engine.
I know the ethanol blended fuels (usually 10% around here in the winter) are not the best, but since there was not much option, I use it but add Sta-bil to each tank.
A gas station about 5 miles from my house now advertises one "no-ethanol" pump. Looking more closely at it, it says "no more than 1% ethanol" and it is high-octane unleaded (96 maybe, I can't remember for sure). It is also about $0.80 more per gallon. I don't mind the extra price as my Sonett is not my daily driver, but just wondering if high-octane unleaded is good, bad or indifferent for a V4. Thoughts?
