Andy you are quite correct as to the bolt orientation. However I believe that most of the bolts can be more easily got at with a box wrench through the front with the radiator out. If you are a professional and doing many of them, you learn the tricks and have the 10mm 1/4" drive flex socket and the right length wobble drive extensions etc to make it reasonable and fast. If you are only doing one it may make more sense to open up the access and give yourself room to work.
On reflection I was a little hasty in my post in that I seemed to remember doing it with the radiator out, when in fact the last time I did
the water pump I had the engine out, and remembering how tricky the W/P replacement is
with the engine in, looked at the setup and decided that next time I would pull the radiator for access, but next time has not happened yet. I plead
Alzheimer's setting in and appreciate your correction. K
