We have a running 99, built in Nov 1969, registered as a 1970 model. You probably have the "Ricardo" engine, 1709cc perhaps, coop development with Triumph. A near clone of that engine was used in the TR-7, but bored out to 2 liters; in fact if you want to have dual carbs, I suspect that the manifold for the TR7 might bolt on, or nearly so.
Two weaknesses to look out for in that engine: the timing chain looks like a refugee from a bicycle shop. Replace it early and often (this requires removing the engine). Also half of the head bolts are clamping at a 45 degree angle to the head gasket surface, resulting in uneven pressure. This means that overheating can more easily cause head gasket problems. Make sure your radiator is running clean and keep water topped up.
Our engine threw the timing chain adjuster when the chain streched too much, and the pistons bent all the valves. Parts (Pistons, valves & guides) are nowhere to be found to fix it, so we had to install a later model SAAB 2 liter "B" engine.
