I was wrong about the positive side as I mentioned. You also marked it wrong on your harness. It goes to the negative side of the coil. As far as the harness that goes to the wiper stalk, I'm guessing that's your factory power lead. That wasn't an issue for me because the power to the clock was already there. As you stated, any 12V source will do. I simply made a short jumper to the tach (brown on diagram). The yellow will be a direct wire to the negative side of the coil. That's how I did it when adding the tach to my '72. That's also the exact way it's wired to my '74 EMS I later picked up. I just went out to take a look at it. Use some shrink tubing under the hood and it will look like factory. By the way, That's a very unique electro-mechanical clock it has an electrical auto-winder that actvates via a solenoid. If it doesn't work, look for a very thin strap that has come away from it's contact near the resistor. It's the same thing EVERY time. I've got a total of six of thes tachs, and each and every one didn't work until I made this repair. To check to see if you clock will work, ground out the housing, and connect 12V to your lead. If you don't imediatly have that solenoid click on, the clock won't wind and work. On a positive note, I fixed watches as a hobby for years...the mechanical works are bullet proof.A LIGHT oiling of the movement will keep it running nice, just keep away from the hairspring.
