The 2.6 engine has the most interchangable parts. Fuel pump and piston rings come to mind. The 2.6 is only available 72 and 73. It is easily identified by the siamesed exhuat port. The 2.6 engine has only 2 exhaust ports per head. The 2.8/2.9 engines have 3 exhaust port. The 2.6 engine has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the V-4, 2.8/2.9 are different.
