I found the problem, unfortunately it's not an easy> Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Sun, 11 Aug 2002 15:58:35 In Reply to: From the look of this it looks like>>, BobD, Sun, 11 Aug 2002 15:28:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
fix, or one of the easiest. After staring at the drivers over and over, I decided to compare the dimensions from both trannies from side to side at the drivers. The 73 measured 15 inches tip to tip....the 74's tranny measured 16 inches. That explains the binding, but does not explain why it worked in the 74. 73-74 are supposed to be the same, right?..especially cars made in the same year, but 8 months apart...3/73 and 11/73.
I'm still baffled, but at least my month long mystery is solved.
Now to tear the other tranny apart and see what it looks like. I hope it's good. I never did get to road test it when I bought it cause the engine ran like crap. Tore the head off today and found a hole in one of the pistons and damage to one of the valve seats...doh!!!
