Engine gets warm to quick

Since I bought my 900S 2.0i Talladega (1997) in december 2003 there is one thing that surprises me.
The temperature of the engine is getting warm very quick. Eventhough the outside temperature is about 3 degrees celcius my car is getting warm rapidly.
Every day I drive in 10 to 15 minutes to my work with a speed of 100 to 120 km/hour.
In a few minutes after departure the temperature indicator is just above the middle.
When I get to my work there are a few streets where I have to drive real slow (<=30 km/hour).
In these streets the temperature is getting so high that the fan starts to help cool the engine. The temperatureindicator is still just above the middle.
In 10 t0 15 minutes under cold circumstances my former cars (also a Saab 900S) did not get warm that quick.
Is there something wrong or is it just my imagination? What could be the problem?
The car has driven 87000 km now and is always maintained bij the official Saab dealer.
I want to know what can be the problem before spring is coming. I don't want to overheat the engine.
TIA, Robert
