Headlight switch tied to gearbox?

Hi, I just got a 94 900SE v6 and the weird thing that happens when I turn the headlight switch all the way to the right position, the "check gearbox" light comes on and the car runs at a higher idle. If I restart the car with the headlight switch out of the far right position, it returns to normal. What is going on?!?!? Has anyone had this problem? Should I expect more electrical quirkiness in this SAAB? I need help. Thanks!
