I replaced the regulator/brushes in the VW (several), the Volvo, the Honda (what a bear!) and the Saabs. The '89 Volvo was 0.3 labor, 30$ in parts. In your case, I worry about the diodes.
There are people out there who repair these items at a reasonable price, but they can be somewhat hard to find..
Stay away from the dealers, and avoid all the water holes and lakes - luckily you have no distorted connecting rods ($$$$) !
On the '93 VW VR6, with its 120 amp unit, I was told that there may well be a regulator available from Bosch, but they needed the alternator model number, and this car is also a bear to work on..
I got rid that that car, the alternator was still perfect at 140k miles.
