I've actually spent much time reading posts on this board for ACC issues but there are several specific things I'm unsure about. While there are some very good posts on the subject, including from you, Dr. Farber, Paul N and others, there is also alot of noise and apparent confusion on the subject out there too. As my symptoms don't appear to exactly match the typical speed controller failure (most report that the fan gets stuck on high speed, not a dead fan like I'm seeing) I have asked for anyone who is willing to look over my diagnosis and see if they come to the same conclusion I did. I did in fact go to the effort of searching the board and performing a series of tests before posting here. If it is as simple as replacing the speed controller then I can handle that using the info already on the board, I'm just looking for a little reassurance that this is actually the culprit.
The Good Dr.'s post is, *I believe*, suggesting that the problem may be with the "ACC Control Unit" ($695 from eeuroparts) or the ACC fan relay (which I just found under the hood in the fuse/relay compartment), and not the "ACC fan speed controller" (<$100 as you mentioned) as I originally suspected. My last post was an attempt to get a little more info/clarification on that diagnosis, as these problems don't appear to be as well documented as the fan speed controller issues.
I will try another search on the wet floor. I probably missed something obvious.
