I'm not sure why that hose is of a different material but I would be careful with using a silicon line there. It is a part of the EVAP system and will thorw a CEL if things go worng. The hose looks more like a fuel line than a vacuum hose so you might find a fuel line in the same size to fit it. It does take a90 degree bend to hook up to the check valve so you'll want to watch for pinching of the line if you use something other than a stock line.
