Hi Gary, Thanks for your tips... here are my responses:
"Bleed brake lines & replace fluid every 2 years."
-Did that last about 4 years ago, was planning on pushing pistons in a bit and changing pads without bleeding, but you might have talked me into it.
"Replace power steering fluid every 2-3 years."
-Glad you reminded me about that one. Will do!
"Check break retaining springs and pins (these rust over time)"
-The pin and clips that hold the pads? Thankfully, rust free on mine (never been replaced).
"Rotors should have minimum thickness."
-Yeah, had to replace them about 4 years ago. The new set (Bembo) haven't been turned and aren't quite 'groovy' yet. So probably leave them for now.
"Shocks and Struts usually wear out by this time"
-Bingo. Forgot to mention that but good call. I had to do them about 2 years ago, but forgot to mention it.
"Change fuel filter if past 105k miles"
-Was done when I changed the fuel pump (around 110k at the time. Should I just do that again at 150k?
"If there is something I missed, someone will chime in."
- One thing that's always scared me is mention of timing chain prone to breakage and that being the end of the motor! Is that just the V6 that had that curse. If not, is this one of those preventative measures that should just be done now before any problem shows itself...those types of things?
Thanks again, and keep the tips coming all! Great board!
