Unfortunately suspension problems are hard to diagnose. My strategy is to keep driving until I see visual damage or can pin-point the problem. Otherwise I end up replacing parts that were fine.
I had similar symptoms as you (same actually), at first it was barely noticable but after about 1500 miles it became pretty loud. I thought it was either the engine mount, or one of the bushings. Replaced the engine mount, no change. After a lot of Saabnet research I was convinced it was the stanchion arm bushing that connects the arm to the body. Checked that out, everything looked fine.
The rest of the suspension also looked good. Finally I saw oily residue on the inside of my wheel, similar to what happens when a CV boot rips, but lets grease/oil. I had read that the stanchion-to-control arm bushing was hydraulic. I replaced it and the problem went away.
Now, this issue is no problem at first. I drove from MN to NY with it. However, it gets worse quick and what my friend was seeing, was the whole wheel shooked forward when I braked. This could pottentialy cause the control arm to rub against the stanchion arm and damage both.
Good Luck Hunting down the prob. BTW lots of people have reported similar symptoms to be the stanchion arm to body bushing.
