I'm currently diagnosing similar problems. I replaced all my struts, strut mounts and bearings a couple months ago and still had a knocking sound whenever turning or randomly during normal driving. I found I had a small tear in the LH Ball Joint Boot and proceeded to replace both LH and RH to be safe($40) At the same time, I took the strut assembly out again to add the lower spring spacer. I had thought these fixed the problems, however, the next day, the knocking came back.
Currently I need to replace my RH Stanchion Arm to Control Arm bushing to pass an inspection. -Might as well do the who control arm. The next thing to check after are my outer C/V joints.
I didn't have a ball joint splitter when I originally popped the Control Arm Ball joint and used the C/V joint as leverage. Although there is no visual damage, I may have deformed the outer C/V in the process.
I'll keep you posted...
