I had this happen 3 times, each time having to get a new knob from the shop. I took a zip tie and wraped it around the center of the knob, adding reenforcement. This is the part that extends into the climate control. You have to make sure you put the lock part of the zip tie in the correct place (I can't remember where)or it will not allow the know to turn completely. Since then I have not had a problem.
