My summer tires are 17". I've no problem with the ride. Might want totry a thicker tire size. 225/45R17 which would be slightly bigger than original tires, but work great.
The major difference would be tire noise. I'm using Yoko SSR (or something like that, i forgot). When compare to Michelin 16" is pretty noisy.
