Jason, forget about the miliage for a moment, because it's irrelavent if you're are considering purchasing the car. My buyout on paper was 16K due on Jan 1 2002. Last week I received a call from chase reminding me of this figure, all I did was mentioned that I had heard this figure is now negiotiable. He agreed and then offered to amend the buyout of my car at 12000. Being in sales anyone who drops their shorts that quickly, signals to me that they can go lower, so I balked, and after some discussion I counter offered with 10,500.
They accepted, provided that they finance it, which I am awaiting paperwork on. the interest rate is 6.2% for my choice of 3,4,5 year loan with no early payment penalty. the rate and terms I consider very fair.
The moral of the story is you can probably do better. the question is not how badly you want the car and what you are willing to pay for it, but how badly they "don't" want the inventory. This was Chase though, not saab.
good luck,
EJ
