Hello all
have a 3 month 9-3 02, base model, petrol with aboout 3k miles / 5k km
a few months ago I remember someone posting an incredibly long and detailed list of all things that are checked etc. at the different scheduled services - I have searched under every possible search string that I can think of and still cannot find it - can anyone help me find it.
Some questions:
1 - the parking brake engages really high - is this sort of thing covered in a first service, or will I be expected to pay for this adjustment (i.e. - I can live with it, but would rather it were changed)
2 - on the right hand side / passenger side - some of the plastic sections surrounding the inside of the door frame etc. and the main side bar / strut (I forget the name - the frame section that goes up to the roof between the two doors) - anyway, the pastic is not particularly well fitting as compared to the driver's side - i.e. it is not flush and some of the seals are a few mm apart - is this a problem or just an aesthetic thing?
3 - suspension noise - yup - I have a lot of creaking at low speeds over bumps etc. - is it worth trying to get this fixed - there was mention of a service bulletin appearing on this earlier this year, but I did not see any confirmation
4 - 3rd gear - no complaint, just a concern - the stick shift is a little "clunkier" than I am used to, but is certainly not a problem. I notice however, that when going into third there is sometimes a very slight catch... it is not smooth - and similarly, the stick sometimes vibrates very slightly when in 3rd as compared to other gears (I am talking about v. slight vibrations here) - any suggestions about what this could be?
Why am I asking these questions - I live in Italy - my Italian is fine, but not perfect and I am no mechanic / techie (you may have spotted this already...). There are many many plus-side factors to living here in Italy. One of the negative factors however, is that the service culture is not always up to scratch. I am therefore keen to be tooled up as much as possible before I head in for my first service in the coming weeks. I am so completely happy with my 9-3 that I do not see the need to complain about these things and I could see myself walking away with these problems either unresolved (accepting: "these are just normal things you have to expect..there is nothing we can do" when perhaps I should insist on more etc.).
Apologies for the long posting. Thanking you for any suggestions you may provide and wishing you all a good weekend (the forcast is for sun and no clouds - I expect to be out of Rome in Tuscany and beyond for most of the weekend... I just can't seem to get enough of driving the beloved 9-3)
thanks
