V-1's been good so far

The V-1's my first radar detector (my last ticket was a doozy, and once I bought the 9-3, I knew the right pedal was a dangerous temptation ). It's hard-wired in high on my windshield by my rear-view mirror. I haven't gotten a ticket since I bought it, but I only speed excessively in near-perfect conditions.
The detector definitely saved my butt from tickets a few times, most notably by picking up some tricky state troopers zapping instant-on Ka. Got a few blips indicated dead ahead well over 1/2 mile away from the trap. The directional arrows are nice on the V-1 for a sense of where to look for the cop, but I still always get on the brakes as soon as I hear a radar warning on the highway. Sometimes the warning has gone off pretty darn close to where I actually see the cop, for whatever reasons. So the arrows might not matter. I'm sure both detectors are good, but remember that no detector is a substitute for common sense and vigilence if you're going to speed...
Best,
Lutfisk
