Different people have done it many different ways, some very creatively. My car is a 1999 9-3, not the new Sport Sedan, so you'll have to decide your own specific wire routing.
Being the indecisive sort, I wanted to leave my options open to wire in a remote display if need be, so I wanted to keep power central. I also knew the cigarette lighter was switched on with ignition, so I tapped into the rear of the lighter socket power line using the splice that came with the Valentine detector. I mounted the V-1 power socket in the dummy ashtray in front of the shifter. I ran a flat cord behind my steering column panel up through the left front speaker hole, behind the A-pillar, and under the headliner to come down to the detector near the rear-view mirror. It was simple, and took about 20 minutes, because I undid quite a few trim screws to manuever the wire through the dash with my big clunky hands. If you tapped into the fuse box for power, you wouldn't need to loosen any trim panels.
Best,
Lutfisk
