Second Update:
The problem is apparently solved. I cleaned the throttle body, which actually wasn't very dirty at all, and I reset the Limp Home Mode using the directions at this webpage:
http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/20041006.Saab_9-5_throttle_body/
The car now idles right at 1000rpm, and runs fine.
I have a couple follow-up questions:
Would limp-home mode cause the high (1500) rpms I had?
What are the effects of limp-home mode? Because, to be honest, the accleration didn't seem much different than when the car was running normally (Next task is to figure out the low-boost issue I've had since getting a new turbo).
Since the throttle body wasn't that dirty, I hope there isn't a problem somewhere else. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this thing will still be running tomorrow, and that I treated the disease, and not the symptoms, so to speak.
Thanks for the help,
J
