Hi all:
I brought my 2002 9-3 5-speed to a hand wash and wax place here in Atlanta. A half-hour later, they gave me my keys and i hopped in my car. When I turned the key in the ignition it was a little stiff. As the engine engaged, i noticed the stick kind of "hopped" into reverse, though it looked like it had already been there. I shifted into neutral and was shocked to feel how much play was in the gearbox -- normally there's really no wiggle in neutral, but the stick was swinging freely from side to side now. I put the car in first and attempted to move forward and it stalled, even with the clutch engaged. Car continuously stalled and a burning odor was very apparent. I shut it off and called Saab Roadside Assistance to take it to Jim Ellis. Suppose i'll hear the bad news on monday.
Any thoughts? Of course, the car wash strenuously denies responsibility. ; ) I'm not buyin' it, tho.
