refurb a/c clutch pulley to run free? Posted by MikeMc [Email] (#2446) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MikeMc) on Sun, 15 Aug 2004 20:16:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
can the a/c clutch pulley be setup to just run free on the condensor shaft?
my a/c has gone out, and i have a variable grinding/squealing/crunching noise coming from under the airbox. i suspect the condensor pulley is going bad. a buring oil smell is present.
reading past posts, the fix seems to be a new condensor.
since i'm retiring the car in a few months (getting a company car) i'm not up to a big expense right now.
i'm going to release the belt to check each pulley for movement, hoping to pinpoint the source.
i'd just like to know if there is a work-around for a bad a/c clutch.
thanks,
mike
