...if there is going to be a Saab to buy cars from in the next few years.
Mark may well buy a Saab from a different dealer and put the time and effort into sending email and posting messaged on a bulletin board, but for most people, the answer will be as close as a dealership for another car make.
If customers feel they have to carry their own spare parts in the trunk to avoid being stranded (a DIC is not like a battery that can be tested at any auto part store), there is something wrong.
Someone on this board reported being quoted $585 for a rear brake job on a Viggen, not because the brakes wore out but because they are failing due to rust. Another reported three out of three Viggens sold in his area suffered broken pistons...
One Saab owner posted about being quoted $300 for a motor mount which lists for less than $150... this is only half the issue, because the oldest 9-3 is only six years old and most cars that age do not suffer broken engine mounts!
The worst part of this is not the fact that the cars are so likely to suffer premature failures, or the desire of the service department to make money on an out-of-warranty car.
The problem is such lack of concern about having a satisfied customer that someone is not willing to take the time to look for an empty box for a part the customer should not need to buy in the first place.
