Trionic 8 DI is a different design... The Model Year 2003-on 9-3SS has 4 separate independent coil packs (one for each spark plug) instead of the earlier DI Cassette which has all four coil packs integrated into one assembly. I took a close look at the coil packs in the 2005 9-3 Aero CVT and there appear to be separate sensor/control wiring going to each coil pack from a central control module. So it appears that the system has some level of redundancy. I do not think the T-8 direct ignition system will suffer the same problems of the T-5 and T-7 DI Cassette.
