Changing 9-3 coolant... The cooling system holds 8.5 liters or 8.98 quarts. Therefore, you need 4.5 quarts of un-diluted coolant and 4.5 quarts of distilled water to completely fill the system with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water.
What I do is to drain the cooling system; refill the cooling system with straight distilled water; run the engine (adding distilled water as needed to fill the reservoir) until the engine reaches normal operating temperature; let the engine cool and drain the cooling system again; add 4.5 to 5 quarts of un-diluted coolant and then add distilled water until full; run the engine until the engine reaches normal operating temperature (adding distilled water as needed to fill the reservoir).
The system is self-purging so any entrained air will be expelled through the coolant reservoir.
