I'd like to thank everyone for all the suggestions. While Mary was getting the codes read the shop replaced some of the vacuum lines. Since then we've gone through half a tank of gas (with Techron) and our milage seems higher than expected ( over 34mph from Washington DC to western PA) despite driving ~ 75mph much of the way and the car is a bit when starting from a stop. I think the mixture is still too lean. The CEL is still on.
This morning I replaced the plugs, air filter, and reseated some vacuum lines going from the PCV nipple to the TB. Both ends were rough.
AllenJ thanks for the info about the canister. I knew something was down there but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I'll check all the lines under there as well.
The CEL is off because I disconnected the battery so I can't tell if it's off because I fixed something or because I disconnected the bat. How far do we have to drive before it will come back on if nothing has changed? If/when it comes back on will it go off when I fix it, or will it have to be reset?
The O2 sensor is next on the list, but testing it next.
Thanks again for all the suggestions and help
Peter
