Most of the engineering is still done by Saab in Sweden, with the exception of the obviously re-branded cars like the 9-7. The parts come from the same European suppliers that supply many other well-respected marques, like Bosch, Lucas, and ATE. You really won't see any AC/Delco or Delphi Automotive parts in your Saab. The DI cassette engineering was done by another Swedish company, and a very similar system designed by the same company is being used in a BMW engine now. It's the V-10 in the M5, if I remember right. For the time being, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
