Ah, the joys of discussing the V6. *30k* on the belt changes and get the tensioner done at the same time. One without the other is a mistake. Lion's share of the problems with the V6 involve the tensioner (new style is available) but the belt gets the blame. I just rebuilt a 900SE - PO blew off the belt change (free until 90k miles from Saab). Speaking of expected results... As of now, I'm finding it to be a great little engine with plenty of power and torque. Of course, it could have more. Problem areas are the above and the oil cooler springing leaks (~100k miles give or take a few related to coolant changes no doubt). Head covers warp around 100k miles and leak oil into the plug wires. Not too terrible to change out. (~$110 each from the usual parts places). I liked my 88 900S but it would barely get out of its own way. The 900SE will flat move (2nd gear on). There are a few details missing to really help but hope this gets some of the question answered. Maintenance records will tell you alot. Otherwise, expect the worst and nip 'em in the bud early! It will clean out your wallet if you are in the habit of deferring maintenance. Your mechanic probably is seeing a steady stream of those type of owners who are shocked, shocked, you have to change the oil!

As for me, I'm finding it to be a great car and am looking at a convertable V6 as a second. No fear on this end as I've some experience with it now.
