I don't mean to be repetitive, but, indeed, seek a qualified Saab mechanic and have the car thoroughly checked. A PPI can tell you loads about it, and, frankly, if you've never owned a Saab before, there are many things that can be overlooked by someone without the experience. Even with experience, a PPI is a great idea. Speaking from experience, I'm on my 4th Saab - my family's 25th - and I took mine in for a PPI prior to purchase. I even do 95% of the work on my car myself. Please trust us in this; $100 spent for a thorough inspection can save you from a disasterous purchase.
Is the car you're looking at a 4-cyl or 6? Are you buying from a dealer or an individual? Do you have access to the service records?
How experienced are you mechanically? Please let us know and that will help specific advice to be a little more forthcoming.
