Given that this isn't a V6, you're not going to have to worry about the timing belt and tensioner issues that have plagued them.
Obviously, the engine should be clean and free of leaks. If you can do (or have performed) a compression test, that can be helpful. 10k service intervals were what Saab recommended, but, they were found to be deficient. Sludge issues can arise and be a very serious problem. If the oil pan can be dropped, or the valve cover removed, the presence of sludge can be the kiss of death. If the oil used was a good quality synthetic (like Mobil 1), then you're pretty likely to be in good shape.
Steering should be tight and the suspension should be free of squeaks or clunks. Occasionally, the strut mounts will fail, but, this was far more prevalent on earlier cars.
Check the repair receipts for an ignition cassette. They are a very common failure on these and run about $300 - $400 to replace. If it has been replaced recently you should be good for a while.
Beyond that, regular maintenance is the key, so, make sure that this has been done.
Best of luck.
