I can see no way that this could be a large scale issue. You are simply hitting the overboost protection circuit that is built into your Trionic engine management system. It feels very violent but, for the car, it is completely harmless.
I can't rule out issues with your plugs or cassette but, at this moment, I cannot imagine how they could cause you to overboost and, based on your gauge reading, your car IS overboosting.
The question is why are we experiencing too much boost?
The first thing I would do is check for leaks in the silicone line that runs from the BPC to the wastegate actuator. If this line bleeds any pressure then your BPC will not be moving the WGA like it should and you will have too much boost. What you are describing really DOES sound like a bleed at the actuator whether it be the inside diaphragm, the line, or the BPC solenoid.
If the line checks out OK, remove it on the end where it attaches to the actuator and plug it with a bolt or ???. Then find the line that leads from the nipple on the cold side of the turbo to the BPC. Remove it at the BPC and attach it to the actuator. Drive the car. You now have "base boost". Base boost should be about 5.5-6.5 PSI. If you do not have a boost gauge, try to borrow one from your mechanic. If you still can't procure one, 5.5-6.5 PSI should be around 1/2 to 2/3 Yellow on the factory gauage. If base boost is above or below this target then you can adjust with the adjusting rod. (Petition the board for advice as the actuator assembly is a bit fragile.)
If your base boost is in the range, then I am thinking you should at lease try swapping your BPC for a KNOWN good unit. This is the next easiest possibility.
Let us know what happens. A couple of possibilities still exist but these are the most likely culprits!
Godspeed!
