I have the same saab... just did the front suspension kit w/urethane bushings; resurfaced clutch disk; new front springs (one was broken that the dealership's inspection didn't pick up); new front shocks; hydraulic clutch conversion (love it!!); 3" SS exhaust front to back; new urethane engine mounts; KN cylinder airfilter upgrade; new swaybar at the back; new axle boots throughout; new clutch. drives like new. I did all the wrenching myself using http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/ site as a reference. I intend to keep it for another 10 years; currently at 187 KMS)http://photo.platonoff.com/Auto/. (just ordered new leather from SaabStuff.com) If your engine is still in good shape, I'd keep it, especially if you have had it a while and know the history. In my case, I didn't know the history and I spent more than I anticipated. will probably order a second hand engine in a couple of years before they get too rare, and have it rebuilt and drop it in.
